Argo AI’s Corporate Headquarters to Locate at 3 Crossings

On Tuesday, Oxford Development Company and Argo AI announced that Argo AI will locate its corporate headquarters in the Riverfront West building of the 3 Crossings neighborhood.

“We see the growth of the Strip District as the here and now phase in Pittsburgh’s amazing transformation as a place where you can live, work and everything else,” said Steve Guy, President & CEO, Oxford Development Company. “The addition of Argo AI to 3 Crossings helps grow the professional workforce of the Strip District and complements a new community vision as Pittsburgh’s next corporate and high technology destination.”

Argo AI was established to tackle one of the most challenging applications in computer science, robotics and artificial intelligence: self-driving vehicles. While technology exists today to augment the human driver and automate the driving task up to a certain level of capability, replacing the human driver remains an extremely complex challenge. Advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer vision are required to solve it. These technologies will eventually lead us to a new generation of the automobile — a vehicle that is connected, intelligent, and able to safely operate itself alone or as part of a shared fleet. The potential of these shared fleets of self-driving vehicles will be one of the most transformative advancements in this century.

“We’re proud to call Pittsburgh home and establish a long term headquarters at 3 Crossings,” said Bryan Salesky, CEO, Argo AI. “We thank the city, the local universities, business community and Oxford Development for their work in revitalizing the Strip District, which is now a prime location for technology and innovation.”

Argo AI’s new space will provide facilities to help it grow and expand its self-driving vehicle development efforts.

Construction at Riverfront West, a 131,000 square foot building along Railroad Street and the Allegheny River kicks off with Tuesday’s announcement. Argo AI expects to occupy the building in the summer of 2018.

Riverfront West is designed by WTW Architects, with interior space design by Moss Architects. The construction manager is Rycon Construction and the project is being built with 100 percent local union trades.
